A Time of Transition: Stay At Home Mom

Welcome to the new site!

Intro

I am Kelly, a mom to two boys and wife to my best friend for nearly 18 years. I am a stay at home mom and have run a small handmade headband business for the last 6 years.  I love doing anything that consists of being outside and involves my family.  I find joy in baking, cleaning, listening to podcast, sipping coffee, eating good food and could easily fill my home with fluffy cats and sweet dogs.

Seasons Change

My youngest started Kindergarten last year and the house got real quiet – real quick. The expectation was that as soon as the house was empty I would ramp up the headband business and grow it at twice the pace. Such as life goes though – that wasn’t what happened. I was posting, sewing, creating, marketing…striving to do all the “right” things but walked away feeling more and more lost every month.  Over the course of the next 18 months I had several “come to Jesus” moments regarding my work, my home, my identity…my relationship with God.  I would take long walks – no matter the weather – listening to podcast, praying what seemed like the same prayers over and over again and finally loosened my grip on my plan.

God really made clear to me during this time that He calls us to seasons and seasons don’t last forever.  It doesn’t mean you fail. It doesn’t mean you quit or that you heard wrong.  It means that you pivot.  You open your hands to receive what’s next when His grace has left the season you are in.  You walk so closely with Him that you sense when there is a call to shift, to move, to start or to stop something.

Open Hands

I’m still making headbands but my hands are open.  My grip is loose. Its been a major adjustment to say the least.  What I thought life would look and feel like once my boys started school ended up being a rude awakening for me – one I wasn’t expecting. This transition has been a soul searching one and doesn’t seemed to be talked about much.  Your job is your children as a stay at home mom and then once they start school, your work load changes…the season changes.   As I adjust to this new stage, I’m leaning into Him and inviting you along on the journey too…expect stories, encouragement, recipes and more! ♡
